Setup in Progess

Hi,

I noticed that people are subscribing to my feed. I am still getting thing setup. Please be patient as I get things going. It will take about a week.

Marketing People, Sheesh!!!

So, I am in the market looking at the instant oatmeal.  I usually buy the reduced sugar Quaker Oats.  To my surprise, I noticed a new product from Quaker; Weight Control Oatmeal.  So, like a good consumer, I check out the stats.  The low sugar was 120 calories and the weight control had 160 calories.  I guess that eating more will help control your weight, not lose it.

First timed race selected...

My first timed race will be the Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure in Sacramento, CA.

I will run it with my family and a friend. My goal is to do it in under 30 mintues.

Great Morning Run

The hardest thing about running in the morning is getting out of bed.  Alas, at 5:45 I finally rolled out of bed and strapped on my shoes for my run.

There was fog and chill in the outside air.  The run felt great.  I am working out the aches and pains of getting back into shape.

Dist: 3.00 miles
Time:  38'45"
Pace:  12:52

How it all started...

After returning from a business trip last November, I decided that I had to get back into shape. I was not happy with how I looked or how I felt. I was about 35 lbs heavier than I'd like to be. So, after a 15 year break from seasonal running, I am returning to sport to incorporate it back into my life.

Starting January 2, 2009 I started from ground zero. I started with a walking program and have gradually added running. On January 26, I started the Couch to 5k program. I am using a podcast called "Podcasts for Running" made by Robert Ullery. They can be found on iTunes.

I am currently on week 2 of the program and happy with the progress I have made. To be honest, I have edited Roberts mp3 file to double the length of the workout. I really like going 3 miles per workout and will be increasing my distance during or after week three.

I will publish my podcasts to this blog and update it with my progress and learnings.
